Frequently Asked Questions
Does stick and poke hurt more than machine tattoos?
No. Because of the technique, it’s much less traumatic to your skin. The dragging motion of a machine tattoo creates a wound whereas this technique is gentler.
What is the healing process?
Healing from a stick and poke tattoo is much quicker than with a machine tattoo. Normally stick & poke can take about a week to heal vs. machine tattoos can take up to three weeks. It is less likely for the s & p tattoo to itch, scab or peel.
How Should I care for my tattoo?
If you plan on showering the day of your tattoo, it’s okay to rinse but not to soak the area. When washing your tattoo use unscented soap or anti-bacterial soap like Dial. After washing, pat dry with a paper towel or clean towel. Apply a thin layer of “Tattoo Lovers Care Salve” or an unscented lotion of your choice when it feels dry.
Please avoid Aquaphor (doesn’t allow tattoos to breathe or heal properly)
Avoid, hot tubs, swimming pools, the ocean and direct sun for at least the first week or until you noticed the tattoo is healed.
Once the tattoo is healed, please apply sunscreen to keep it looking fresh.
